Choose Love
Saturday 9th of February 2019
Overview:
What if self-love is the pre-requisite to loving others? Marshall Rosenberg offered this: "It may help you to understand that Nonviolent Communication really grew from my attempt to understand the concept of love and how to manifest it, how to do it. I had come to the conclusion that love is not just something we feel, but it is something we manifest, something we do, something we have."
So, this day is about cultivating self-love and noticing how that nourishes not only ourselves but our families and our communities. This day we will use NVC processes to cultivate a warm welcome for all that is alive in us.
What if our reactivity is the intrusion of unhealed moments from the past into the present? Those moments in the past when we did what we could to reach out in order to be met with love and understanding but were not met in that way. And what if they keep returning, until, they are met and soothed with warmth?
The possibility to cultivate that embrace is gifted to us through the practice of Nonviolent Communication. A practice based on universal human needs. Maybe we didn't have choice in some of those places in the past. This day is about growing the understanding that we do have choice now, in every moment, to approach ourselves with love and welcome and to do the same for others. This day is about exploring our longing for acceptance and cultivating a hospitality towards the grief and mourning for the times when we were not met with pure delight.
Let's have this conversation on this day devoted to choosing love.
